Woman of Love.

I love my mother, fair and simple. She’s raised me to be a loving, caring young man, and I can’t thank her enough for it. I’m the man that I am today thanks to the way I was raised, by her and by my father, in a loving, strong household, and with parents who loved me, and my brothers, and the Lord.

I tried to find something to buy her for mothers’ day that could express all of the gratitude and love and joy I feel towards her, but there wasn’t anything to be found. So I wrote her this instead.

Happy Mothers’ day, mom.

.

Woman of love, you truly are.

Helped raise a family from nothing

A mother, lived love, for three small baby boys.

The sons of thunder never gave you peace,

But still the love lived in your heart,

Your life on hold to give us everything.

.

There’s a feeling that lives in my heart,
You raised me, taught me how to love.
So many times I told you no,
But in your heart you knew the truth:
Deep in my heart, I’ve always loved.
You raised me as a golden son.
A love that gave me everything,
And we will rise
.
A loving grace you truly show.
I bring it with me in my heart.
A gift from mother to her firstborn son.
Watching out for me with tender eyes.
Your love gave wings, let freedom sing
And dreams better than all the world have taken wing
.
I thank you mother,
For loving me

.

A man who’s strong and true, stands before you

Only because, the way you loved me

My life’s the joy it is, because of you
.
I promise you, mother, I will live my life
And stand up for the day, the truth I know.
Never forget my past, and where I’m from.
Oh dear mother I thank you for the years
You left your life and dreams for us.
The ungrateful eldest son, naught but burden.
.
I thank you mother,

For loving me

.

A man who’s strong and true, stands before you

Only because, the way you loved me

My life’s the joy it is, because of you.

.

Your son is growing up, because of you

You’ve shown me true love, made me a strong man.

My life’s a life for love, all thanks to you

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. – Proverbs 22:6

(I wrote a companion piece for my father, and gave it to him as an early fathers’ day present. I’ll show that one when fathers’ day rolls around.)
