Honorable Man

My father has had an amazing influence on my life. He’s raised me to be the person I am today, and I can’t thank him enough for that. I love him, a lot. And I wrote this to try to convey some of the intense feelings of gratitude I have for him, and all that he has done for me and my brothers throughout the years. Thank you, Dad, and Happy Fathers’ Day!

4.6.2011

Honorable man, you truly are.

You built this family from the dirt

A labor of love for those weaker than you.

A beautiful mother, her three rebel boys

Their precious lives you did protect

Your dreams you sacrificed to give us everything

There’s a sadness burning in my heart

I left you lonely, father love

So many things I wished I’d said

I hope that in your mind you knew them true

Holding on to what I’ve got and love,

You made me as a golden son

A love that made me all I am,

And we will rise

So proud and strong you truly are,

I take it with me as a tool.

A gift from father to his eldest son.

You watched over me with eagle eyes,

You brought freedom in my life

My dreams have sprouted and are taking wing

I thank you father,

For loving me

You raised me strong and true, and I love you

I see your life, the way you loved me

My life’s no more the same away from you

I promise you, father, I always will

Stand up for what I love, believe in it

Never lose my values, stand up for the truth.

Oh dear father, I thank you for the years

You spent your life giving for us,

The ungrateful firstborn son, naught but burden.

I thank you father,

For loving me

You raised me strong and true, and I love you

I see your life, the way you loved me

My life’s no more the same away from you.

Your son is growing up, because of you

You’ve shown me true love, made me a strong man.

My life’s a life for love, all thanks to you
