Elli, it is so awesome to see you getting passionate about this. When you get on fire for something, you really get passionate about it. I think this is a great way to exercise your compassion for people, which is something you're gifted at. I can't wait to see how we can help in the fight against this terrible injustice.

And I think "janky" is spelled "jenky", but it's slang and I'm being nit-picky...

And I just got my grade back. I got an A on the essay with this comment: "I disagree with you almost completely in regards to women being submissive to men. However, you went into a lot of detail, and made a strong case."
LOL WHUT. Oh well.

That reminds me of this song, it was written from a guy to a girl (as most songs are,) but it works as anyone writing to God.

"I don't know what it is that makes me love you so
I only know I never want to let you go
Cause you started something
Oh can't you see
Ever since we met you've had a hold on me
It happens to be true
I only want to be with you

It doesn't matter where you go or what you do
I want to spend each moment of the day with you
Look what has happened with just one kiss
I never knew that I could be in love like this
It's crazy but it's true
I only want to be with you"

Very cool stuff, Miss Morscher, makes my heart warm to read it.

Katheryn, you bring up a very good point. I was reading "Normal Christian Life" by Watchman Nee for our cell group the other week, and he was talking about the phrase "body of death."

There was a punishment for murder around the time of Paul's writing his letter to the Romans, and the punishment wasn't death. It was, arguably, a great deal worse than death. The punishment was that the murderer would have the body of the dead person tied hand to hand, foot to foot, neck to neck, waist to waist, to their body, and be forced to walk around with the "body of death" literally attached to them.

That's what Paul is talking about, the "old man" is the dead body that is tied to his new, resurrected self, his old sin and life.

It seems to relate to Elli's struggle in that way, that she is struggling with the overtaking of her new, resurrected spirit by her "old man" (or woman, if we wanna be politically correct) and that "old man" takes over her mind.

The cry "who can free me from this body of death," taken literally, would be to cut the murderer free from the corpse attached to his back, and allow him to mive about freely. In Elli's case, it would be for God to set her free from her introspective hell, from her focus on her self.

Freed from those bonds, Elli, you could truly grow, and learn to be a loving, serving sister, and not spend your time wrapped up in your own thoughts, in your "old man," but you'd be free from that corpse of self-focus, and all the things that come with it.

This isn't something you'll be able to do on your own, that's why Paul's cry is not "How may i free myself from this body of death?" but rather "Who will free me?"
